Commencing in October 2009, Body with Soul welcomes the joint services of Danielle Barratt and Monica Donaldson, in providing a full range of physiotherapy care for women in the antenatal and post natal years. Services include:


Assessment and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunctions:

  • Urinary incontinence (stress, urge or mixed incontinence)
  • Bowel incontinence
  • Constipation - Haemorroids
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Dyspareunia (painful sexual intercourse)
  • Vaginismus/Painful vulval dysfunctions

Assessment & treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunctions during the antenatal & postnatal periods:

  • Pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain
    (sometimes referred to as Symphysis pubis dysfunction or SPD, but also includes sacro-iliac joints)
  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome/DeQuervain’s
  • Rectus abdominus diastasis (separation of the abdominal muscles)
  • Pain or dysfunction in any other part of the body
  • Education and prevention of injury

Assessment and treatment of breast problems:

  • Mastitis
  • Blocked ducts
  • Engorged breasts

Ergonomics:

  • Assessment and advice on work stations at home/office
  • Assessment and postural advice for breastfeeding positions, changing nappies, bathing, handling baby in/out of a car seat, lifting baby in/out of a cot, use of baby carriers and slings

Assessment and management of lymphoedema


General exercise programmes:

  • Osteroporosis/osteopoenia
  • Returning to work
  • Safe exercises during antenatal and postnatal periods
  • Chronic painful conditions

Chronic Pain management:

  • Functional postures and movements
  • Specific exercise (return to sports / daily functional activities) plans
  • Use of TENS

Home visits to assess and treat all of the above
