Are you gearing up for a long haul flight back home or going away on holiday this summer with your little ones?

Here are some great massage and reflexology tips to help your little ones have a restful journey!

Aiding digestion, relieving colic and relaxing the stomach – have your baby lying on your thighs face up, stroke down your baby’s tummy in long strokes approximately 8 times. Then massage around your baby’s belly button in a clockwise motion in line with your baby’s digestive track. Repeat this move approximately 8 times.

Comforting and relaxing – sit your baby on your lap, do little circular motions around the ankle joint, then stroke the sole of the foot from under the toes to the heel. Do this several times before repeating on the other foot.

Relieving sinus discomfort and congestion – still cuddling your little one, gently stroke from the bridge of the nose under the eyes and out towards their ears.

Reflexology to help ear pain and relax your little one – Points that can help with or prevent ear pressure and pain: hold the foot steady and with the other hand work the ear reflexes by pressing under each toe. To calm and soothe a baby, gently press your thumb into the solar plexus area within the webbing of your baby’s hand. Repeat this on the other hand, after doing it a couple of times.

Massage and working the reflexes can be done over clothes. If you would like to use an oil, use a light organic oil, for example a grape-seed oil then add a few drops of lavender essential oil. Lavender has a great calming and relaxing effect on the body – both physically and emotionally.

Through the power of touch you will be communicating comfort, love and assurance to your little one.
