It’s that time of year again: A New Year with new resolutions that very often only last a short time. We all know what’s good for us, we (hopefully) know what our goals are and we have these good ideas that go along with these goals. That’s not the challenge. The challenge is actually making and taking the steps we need to in order to achieve our goals and dreams. There is a saying: Overnight success takes years. We see the success of others in their business or personal lives, yet what we are observing is the end result. We don’t witness the hard work it took, along with the trials and tribulations. To achieve your dreams and goals simply plan out the little steps you need to take, and then make the right choice every day and every moment when the options present themselves. Taking the right step more often is a step closer to realising your goal. It’s certainly not easy, but the more you do it, the more it becomes habitual, and the easier it is. There will of course, be times that we will falter along the way, do not get disheartened but instead, apply discipline to get back on track. The joy and pleasure we receive in achieving our goals and dreams are immense and without doubt will raise our spirit and will make the challenging work worthwhile.

One of the most common New Year’s Resolutions is to get into shape. All too often, people fail to reach this goal because they get too enthusiastic at the start and do too much, so that exercise becomes a chore. Ultimately they give up on their quest. This year instead, why not try under-doing it, rather than over-doing it, and compliment yourself for the effort. The trick is to make exercise a regular thing and in time it will become a habit. Find an activity you enjoy and/or engage a trainer so that the exercise required becomes an extra bonus to the beneficial activity and experience.
