About David Shapiro
David Shapiro, Ph.D. is a licensed Psychologist from California, United States of America. David has a PhD from the University of Texas, Austin and Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University, NY.
He has over 20 years of clinical experience working as a Psychologist in various setting and helping clients both in the US and in Singapore. He works with children, teens and adults providing psychotherapy to individual, couples, and families.
David’s overarching approach to counselling is best described as strategic and solution focussed. He integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive, Behavioral, Interpersonal, Psychoeducational, Family Systems, Structural Family Therapy, Existential-Phenomenological, Imago Therapy as well as other complementary adjunctive therapies. The goals with each strategy employed can be described as promoting disruption of ineffective patterns, and replacing them with more effective patterns of thoughts, feelings, behaviour and life choices. David has been working as Psychologist in Singapore since 2019.
David is also very interested and qualified in Buddhist meditation and enjoys integrating mindfulness and meditation in his psychotherapy work.
