Body with Soul Total Healthcare Network approached the Rotary Club of Sentosa recently to see if we could assist a patient of theirs who was introduced to them through a program called “May I Help You?”, which was aired on Vasatham, Mediacorp Channel 5.

The patient is a 50 year old woman by the name of Emily. A year ago, she was brought to Body with Soul Total Healthcare Network as she had multiple problems with her health. Emily has high blood pressure and is seriously overweight. She lost an eye 8 years ago and is now losing the other eye.

Emily receives S$330 per month from her CPF that covers her living costs. However, as she is only 50 years old, she is not entitled to take more funds out of her CPF account to pay for a treatment needed to save her eye.

Body with Soul Total Healthcare Network tried to raise some funds to assist Emily through the hardwork of Ms. Graziella Chivallier but the amounts were still insufficient. Another partner of Body with Soul Total Healthcare Network, Ms. Rosalind Lim (who also happened to be a member of the Rotary Club of Sentosa) continued to provide Emily with corrected nutritional food to help her in her weight management whilst taking into account of the various ailments that she is suffering from.

The Rotary Club of Sentosa approached its member, Dr. Adrian Koh, a prominent eye surgeon to offer assistance to Emily. Dr. Adrian Koh promptly stepped forward and quickly arranged for an appointment to assess Emily.

Upon assessing Emily, Dr. Adrian Koh was able to provide the good news that Emily’s left eye is treatable and he has confirmed an appointment in 2012 for the treatment. The cost of the assessment and treatment was waived by Dr. Adrian Koh.

Emily is now very much at peace knowing that her remaining eye can be saved.

Whilst this is not a major event, it goes to show that together we can help another.
